What is Touch Rugby?

Touch rugby refers to games derived from rugby football in which players do not tackle each other but instead touch their opponents using their hands on any part of the bodyclothing, or the ball.

Touch is a variant of rugby league that is organised by the Federation of International Touch (FIT). The basic rules of touch were established in the 1960s by the South Sydney Junior Rugby League Club.

Number of Players

The game is generally played with two teams of six on-field players. There are typically two centres (3), two links (2), and two wingers (1).

Substitution can be made any number of times throughout the match. However, the game remains continuous and does not stop to allow substitutions.

Depending on the competition, the teams can be malefemale or mixed.

Each team can consist of up to 14 players.

Mixed teams typically comprise of 3 females and 3 males on the field at one time. Some rules may state that no more than 4 and not less than 2 females may be on the field at any one time.Field
